Henry County Crime News Sources
Official Henry County sources come first. The Henry County Sheriff's Office publishes agency information and links to its official Facebook account and mobile app. Those channels can carry public-safety news or a specific release, but no complete sheriff arrest archive, separate daily booking feed, or fixed posting schedule was verified. Mount Pleasant, New London, and Winfield police pages likewise had no official blotter or mugshot feed when checked.
KILJ offers the most frequent local narrative coverage across the county's three main cities. Southeast Iowa Union follows Mount Pleasant and county government. KWQC and KCRG cover selected major cases across the region. These outlets report events rather than maintain a live jail census, and their articles do not always use booking photos.

The source type affects what a result can establish. Agency pages provide the official account they chose to release. Newsrooms add reporting and context. Commercial booking publishers copy or organize records but are neither the sheriff nor the court.
| Outlet | Coverage | Photos? | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Henry County Sheriff | Agency news, alerts, and selected incidents | May vary by post | Sheriff record and Iowa court docket |
| KILJ News | Frequent local incidents, arrests, crashes, and public safety | Often no booking image | Named agency, sheriff, then court |
| Southeast Iowa Union | Mount Pleasant and county story coverage | Story dependent | Agency release and court file |
| KWQC Crime | Selected regional cases | Sometimes agency-supplied images | Local agency and court |
| KCRG Crime | Episodic regional crime reports | Story dependent | Local agency and court |
KILJ is the strongest event-by-event local source, but even frequent coverage is not a complete arrest log. Regional coverage is more selective. Publication cadence depends on news value, agency releases, and editorial choice.
Henry County Photos and Releases
A newsroom may receive a photograph with an agency release, request a retained booking image, use another agency-provided image, or publish no image at all. Iowa Code chapter 22 supplies the general public-record framework, but no current Iowa statute was found that requires every sheriff to post every booking photograph online. Proposed booking-photo confidentiality bills did not become law and should not be described as current restrictions.
The sheriff's record-request process is the formal route for asking whether it holds a booking sheet or intake photograph. A request can identify the person's full name, a narrow date range, and the arresting agency, then ask for the booking record and intake image as electronic files. The custodian may redact material or apply a lawful exemption. An incident report is a different record and may belong to the arresting police department.
Note: A news photograph may be a scene image, agency portrait, or file photo rather than the booking image created at jail intake.
Henry County Story-to-Record Check
A report gives a starting name, agency, place, and date. Keep each source in its lane as the story moves from an allegation to an official outcome.
- Read the story's source attribution and date. Separate the publication date from the reported arrest or booking date.
- Check the sheriff Corrections Division roster control or sheriff app for current local custody. No match may mean release, transfer, update lag, a spelling issue, or no county booking.
- Use the records-request route for a retained booking sheet or photo, especially after release. The full county roster and feed fallbacks are on the Henry County busted mugshots home page.
- Search Iowa Courts Online by name or case number and narrow to Henry County. A new case can take about one business day to appear, and some clerk-entered documents take longer.
- Read the disposition, which is the court's recorded outcome. Verify amended or dismissed charges instead of repeating the intake wording as final fact.
A booking record shows what jail staff entered at intake. A police release states the agency's account. Prosecutors decide what to file, and the court record supplies later events. Those records can differ without any one of them being the right substitute for another.
Henry County Blotter Pattern
Henry County has no verified official daily arrest blotter, separate same-day booking page, 48-hour view, 72-hour view, weekly feed, or booking archive. The roster opens as a popup from the Corrections Division page rather than a durable results URL. Its search fields, photograph policy, update rate, and release-removal window were not published.
That makes local reporting event driven. KILJ may report a sheriff incident, city-police arrest, crash, or enforcement action, while Southeast Iowa Union follows cases with wider Mount Pleasant or county impact. New London and Winfield events can appear in KILJ reports even though neither city maintains a public blotter. An article's silence about a photo should not be converted into a claim that none exists.
For “last night” or weekend events, do not assume an unofficial date equals the arrest time. A late-night arrest may be booked after midnight, a publisher may post later, and a court case can appear on the next business day. Preserve the field label used by each source.
Henry County Sheriff News Channels
The “Henry County Sheriff Iowa” app launched in June 2025 and advertises news, jail information, inmate search, tips, and contacts. It is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The public descriptions do not promise that every arrest, photograph, or status change will appear.
The sheriff's official Facebook page can carry announcements, yet a social feed is not a complete public record. Posts can be selective, changed, or removed. Save the agency name, post date, and case reference, then move to the sheriff record and court docket. Call 911 for an emergency because the app and social channels are not emergency-reporting tools.
The agency's role must also be read with care. “Arrested by,” “assisting agency,” “holding for,” and “facility” describe different things. A New London report that says local police assisted the sheriff does not make New London Police the arresting agency.
Henry County KILJ News View
For steady Henry County incident coverage, start with the KILJ local news section, the area's go-to spot for recurring reports on arrests, court dates, and police activity around Mount Pleasant.
A news outlet's page shows what reporters published, not a live jail roster. Check the named agency and court sources before treating any report as current or complete.
Unofficial Henry County Booking Pages
Three commercial publishers run Iowa Henry County sections. They are Busted Newspaper, Recently Booked, and Mugshots.com. None is the sheriff, a police department, or a court. Expect problems here. Listings can lag, show gaps, or carry stale and mislabeled entries. Some leave out how a case ended. Use these sites only after you check the official sources first.
| Publisher | Observed county coverage | Main caution |
|---|---|---|
| Busted Newspaper | County-local dated entries and a deep page history | Publisher archive depth is not official retention or current custody. |
| Recently Booked | County page claiming a rolling recent window | Its update claim is not the sheriff's schedule. |
| Mugshots.com | Older county records with unclear cadence | Old entries require identity and court-outcome checks. |
Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone have no verified Iowa Henry County section. That makes them poor substitutes. Search engines make things worse. They often surface Henry counties in Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, or Ohio instead. Before tying a result to a person, confirm Iowa, Mount Pleasant, the agency, the county, the booking date, and a case number.
Want a look at this market? The Recently Booked Henry County landing page shows what an unofficial county listing site offers.
A commercial page may look like a live custody feed. It is not one. It cannot confirm current custody or an official publication time. Nor can it tell you how a case was resolved in court.
Older Henry County Mugshot Reports
Old news articles can stick around online long after a roster entry vanishes. The county has never published a booking-photo retention period. Nothing shows old photos moving to the clerk, the State Archives, or a historical society. A newspaper archive and a sheriff record series stay two separate collections.
Mugshots.com carries that risk. Its archive has no clear update schedule. The unofficial Henry County archive landing page documents that secondary source.
Check any historical entry against the sheriff's retained record and the Iowa court outcome. Never rebuild a removed official record from a commercial copy, and do not read archive depth as proof of completeness.
Henry County City News Labels
Mount Pleasant is the county seat. It hosts both the jail and the courthouse. A story tagged "Mount Pleasant" might point to the incident site. It might name the arresting department instead. Or it may just mark where custody or court activity took place. New London and Winfield both run police departments. Neither offers a public arrest feed. Winfield's official page sends callers seeking an officer through the sheriff.
KILJ covers all three communities most often. Southeast Iowa Union leans hardest on Mount Pleasant and county government. Regional TV touches the smaller cities only when an event carries broader news value. Match city names and arresting-agency labels separately before attributing any arrest.
Question: Does a city label prove where a person was booked? No. Henry County Jail is the county's main detention facility for local agencies, but medical, juvenile, federal, or out-of-county transfers can differ, so confirm each custody route.
