Choose the Record Holder
Different offices answer different questions. Start with the source that created or maintains the record.
- For current Henry County Jail custody, begin with the official roster on the Corrections Division page, then call the jail if the result is unclear.
- For a booking sheet or intake photograph, follow the sheriff's records-request instructions.
- For a police incident report, contact the arresting police department rather than assuming the jail holds it.
- For filed charges, docket activity, or disposition, use Iowa Courts Online or contact the Henry County Clerk of District Court.
- For state custody or supervision, use the Iowa Department of Corrections offender search. Federal prisoners and immigration detainees use the BOP and ICE locators.
- For a possible warrant, follow Sheriff's Most Wanted and contact the responsible court, sheriff, or a lawyer. Do not confront a wanted person.

Describe one person or a short date range and specify whether the request is for the booking sheet, the frontal and profile intake photographs, or both. No fixed sheriff response time is published. The sheriff page says staff time over 30 minutes may be billed, while the county's 2026 request form says the first two research hours are free. Ask which policy applies and request a written estimate before work begins.
